Dynamic Vines, Lordship Lane, London

This wine shop design creates a welcoming space that encourages customers to take their time exploring and selecting wines, with a focus on showcasing the bottles and honouring the craftsmanship of biodynamic farmers through the use of natural materials and traditional techniques.
We have sought to create an intimate and accessible environment, where wine is the focus and driving force behind the design. Understanding that wine production doesn't run at the same pace we do, we designed the shop not to be overwhelming, and to encourage the customer to slow down, take time to find the right wine and enjoy the process.
Displaying the majority of bottles horizontally prioritises the wine over the sale, prompting customers to engage with the bottles. We wanted to honour the values of biodynamic farmers in the designs of wine displays; using natural materials put together using historic, artisan methods and jointing techniques.
The natural materials and tonal colours help to define the sense of place, whilst the preserved white tiles acknowledges what came before. Externally, the largely glazed shopfront has been designed to promote interaction with the street whilst the open windows will create intimate booths during the summer.
