This house sits within a conservation area and is in need of modernization and extension to form family spaces with a strong connection to the garden. The side alleway enables us to extend to the side of the building to provide utility and storage space - freeing up the main rooms within the house for sitting, eating and cooking. The gable roof to the side extension provides a typical 'outbuilding' profile to the side of the house - as this moves back through the building the vaulted ceiling doubles in width creating a folding roof above the dining room.
